Wherever I read from The Last Resort, people ask about the movie. When will there be a movie? I say, considering The Help, it’s too soon.
Then a heard a rumor. Remember the wonderful movie Winter’s Bone? The director of that wants to do one about events rumored to have occurred in Mississippi during civil rights times: little old white ladies spied on the Ku Klux Klan and reported their findings to the FBI. Nobody suspected them because they were respectable old white ladies. When the person who’d heard the story went back to do some fact checking, the teller had died.
Here’s my idea: we put those three little old ladies at Allison’s Wells, the family hotel. They could be Mama, Miss Hosford and Aunt Thelma. Maybe a spunky child helps them foil the Klan, and the spunky child could be me.
Can’t you see it? A combination of Arsenic and Old Lace
Miss Marple
And
To Kill A Mockingbird.
In the end, justice triumphs, but the hotel BURNS!
Calling . . . Hollywood!
(the hotel burning is a little dose of “Rebecca”!)
I’m there! I can see the whole movie, only you’d have to be one of the trio…. xoxo
what a scathingly brilliant idea!!!
From you blog to that producer’s ear!
YESSSSS. Just what I was thinking. And can I play the fireman who comes to try to put the flames out? Or maybe the black slave who rushes into the clan meeting shouting “Tara is burning!”
I love it! Let’s get writing that screenplay. 🙂
